Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3 cups (360g) confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the butter on medium speed until light and fluffy (~2 minutes).
  2. Add the confectioners' sugar, cocoa powder, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix on low speed until ingredients are combined, then increase speed to high and beat for 2-3 minutes, or until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
  3. Use a spatula to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl, then mix for an additional 1-2 minutes until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  4. Use the chocolate buttercream frosting to frost cakes, cupcakes, or any other baked goods. Enjoy!
